Oparau.
(from our own corbkspoxdentj Tbe dead boxed shark at Oparau is getting very strong in smell and a naisaoce to those passing. Is would be fair to those not trained to this horrible smell to get the boxes buried, as it has been there three weeks. Mr Symons has started his boarding house at the ferry. Tbe size is 45x48 ft. There will be hot and cold shower and plunge baths, an excellent spring being available bandy. i«nel Tbe boat used to cross at tbe ferry is in a bad state, and the Government should supply a boat made of stronger timber, as that in use is not able to stand the knocking about it receives. The process of wasting the rate* payers money filling up a gully still continues, in spite of tbe unanimous petition asking the riding county member not to do so. Who is to pay kr this? Is our hard to get seldom got available cash to be thus wasted? We only want to use this road temporarily until the deviation we intend to do is completed. Tho road lately meddled with and not gravelled is fast becoming an impassable quagmire, prove ing winter is not the time to make roads. If gravel had been put on the suitable portion we would have been sa isfied, instead of wasting the cash burying sanitary pipes in a gaily.
