OU Wednesday eteaiog, 80th ult.. a most successful concert in aid at tho Church of England was held in the Public Hail, being well patronised by both local residents and people from the surrounding districts- As the programme was lengthy a start was made at 8 o'clock sharp. All the items were well received and in moat cases the singers bad to respond to encores. The following ladies and gentlemen kindly rendered items —Misses Bathurst (2), Moody (Te Awamutu), Prentice, Aubin (Pirongia), Messrs Bathurst, Atkinson (Te Awamutu), M‘Kinnon (Hamilton), Howe, James, Edgecombe. Worthington, Sknse and others (Pirongia). The Bev, Mr Clarke presided, Alter a of thanks to those who had assisted had been carried by acclamation, the conceit terminated by the singing of the National Anthem, The result was that J£6 IDs was clei.red after all expenses had been paid. After the concert the hall was cleared tor dancing, which was kept up UH midnight, The weather of late h«e been very hot. Harvesting has been in full swing, and now the most of the grain crops are stacked. Owing to tbo rain and floods tho majority of the turnip gmund bas to be re-sown, which will make winter feed later than it otherwise would hare been.
