Te Rau-a-moa.
. (from our own correspondent.) I believe that our local councillor has had word from the clerk of the Waitomo Council that the Minister has replied stating |that he regrets the Government cannot grant a £ fof £ subsidy for metalling the main coach road, so no further action towards raising a loan will be taken. Our old friend Mr Dan Coe met with a nasty accident a few days ago. Ho was riding along the road in a settler’s milk cart, and happened to lean against the tail board when the pin gave way and he was thrown heavily on to the metalled road, receiving a severe shaking, I am happy to say that be has now almost recovered.
Pigs are a high price now and I expect to see a couple of big mobs go out to the sales in tbe Waikato very soon.
The factory is booming, the dailv supply being now 500 gallons. May it yet reach 5000 is my wish. Daring the past couple of weeks a large number of cattle have passed through here on their way to the Waikato sales.
It is pleasing to see that the Mangati road to connect with Pirongia West is formed some considerable distance and has several gangs at work on it. The Premier has been asked by a friend here to kindly see that enough money is available to finish it, and as the necessity for this short cut was pointed out to him he will perhaps get it done promptly.
