JUSTICES OF THE PEACE.
(to thr editor.) Sih, —Kawhia has two justices of the peace who are sometimes at home but are not always available. The reison that we have not more justices is that the political bddy responsible has not appointed them. Not only in Kawhia do we require more appoint meats, but also in the outlying districts. Settlers, and especially th ).-e farmers adding to holdings not large enough to keep them by leasing native land, are compelled to lose a day to visit Kawhia, and when they get there they often fail to get their business done, as neither of tbe local J’s.P. are at home. Purely the cost of appointing enough men to 'save all this annoyance, loss of time and trouble is □ot so great as to warrant our neglect in this matter by tbe Government.— Yours, etc., DISAPPOINTED.
