Oparau.
(FROM OUR OWN C IREKSPzNUKNT.) Ploughing for turnips i-> being d >ra in several places, the weather fcr which is suitable. A bachelor settler here swept alive detonator into bis fire, witb tbe rae'dt that he received four wonmfei on the arm. Moral: Sweep rubbish outmd». Great sympathy is feft (or the Newton family in their late bereavement the deceased lady being of tbe superior class that we cannot afford to lose. Tbe Oparau road from tb» junction up is a total failure. The work baa been done badly—water tables and drainage est, general plan of original construction nowhere, not sufficient baiter on cuttings, etc. The unfortunate settlers prefer to use tbe old pack track, as the road is really dongerous. Back settlers are supposed to growl, and soma think without cause, but the neglect and inconoidara tion they have to put up with are patent to all here. The Oparau road should be made by the Government as no practical outlet has been given. We are charged for reading and it is only fair that we get the roads. Dune dm revels in a £117,000 railway sta tion, while we, the builders of the colony, are denied a tin-pot one-horse road. Farmers, unite and use your votes at next election.
