From Marine Department, stilling that hitherto the Northern S.S. Co. bad not paid lighting dues for the Kawhia Harbour, which hud cost tha Government £59 last year.—After'-dir-cussion it wa« decided to confer with Captain BicckL.ck. From Same, forwarding draft order relative to vesting the wharf in the Council, and asking if there was any suggestions as to alterations io dues.— Decided to adopt the schedule already in existence. From W. Morgan, Kawhia, applying for permission to tie bis launch to the wharf at night time, on account of the fact that he had to get away at ail times with the mails.—No actiou. ACCOUNTS. Constable McCarthy waited on the Council relative to the cost of burying tho late Mr Hillyer, and said that he could pay it, but the County Council would have to ultimately pay.—Received that the expenses amoautiug to £3 8a be paid. Tho Chairman slated that when in Auckland he had Interviewed tho manager of the National Bank as to ■ when a branch would be opened in I Kawhia. in reply that gentleman j stated that the matter wag hanging . tire, although he had urged it upon the General Manager, and suggested a personal interview with that gentleman when auyoQ.e interested waa in Wellington. The tender of Mr A. Armatrong, I C.E., to prepare plans and specification for forming and metalling at Oriarau and supervising the work, for 6J per ceat. was accepted. The question of unpaid rules was mentioned, the Chairman remarking that summons should be issued, as the loss of subsidy itself was a big item, j There were several names roll that required altering.—The Clerk remarked that last year the notices were sent out very late. —Resolved to sac for all rates overdue. Cr Jonathan brought under the notice of the Council that the sections in the Te Para township as far as Taui street fronting tho harbour should haye been reserved for a road, as the grade was a good one. He thought the Council should write to the Surveyor-General re the matter. —Motion. The question of lighting tho harbour beacons was discussed, and it was docided to call tenders for tbo work as sood as some tieaessary information was ob'ained, Mr J. K. Newton was appointed wharfinger, c-’erk and harbour master the by-laws which the trustees worked on were adopted, and the charge for l innches using the wh'irf was'fixed at Dr Jenkins Btd Rev. R. Shaw—That tho clerk bs authorised to put the work on Pi rongia West road in hand aa soon as the thirds are authorised for that purpose. W. Shaw, Armstrong That a hearty vote of thanks be pawd io Mr Greenslade, M.H.R., for tbe pains ho has taken in connection with the Kawhia County loam?. H. Shaw, Jonathan —That the clerk call tenders for 2000 ft. of 12 x 2 x 16ft. sawn timber,, heart cf rimu, on the YVairet'iua-Aotea road, tenders close on November 22ndJonathan, Norton—That this council grant a rum of £25 to tho cemetery trustees. Shaw, Babbage— the Council strike a. rate of Id in the £ on the unimproved value of all rateable property in the county, the rate to come due and payable in one sum on the Ist day of December, 1906. Jonathan, H. Shaw—That the clerk write the Chief Surveyor relative to survey of Te Puru township, J.e., road should have been surveyed from Ilsmiltun's section to Taui street. The whole of the sections facing the harbour to that point should have been a road reserve. Clerk to bring this under the notice of tho Chief Surveyor, to ascertain or not whether this altera ti.m could bf* made. The meeting then adjourned.
