On Friday next a grand fancy fair and variety entertainment will beheld in the To Mata Hail, particulars of which are set out in an advertisement elsewhere. The improvements to the Kawhia Wharf (which included the erection of a derrick) have been completed by the contractor, Air J. E. Scott, iu a very satisfactory rnmner. Already the derrick is proving quite a boon to hunch owners Are you growing potatoes If so, make sure by using Sharland’m Potato Blight Extebminatob that your seed and your labour are not thrown away. The use of this specific will give you surprising results. Your grocer cm tell you all about it and supply you with it.*
On tbe occasion of ths recent social to Mr and Mrs J. E Scott, it was anuouncod that a presentation would be made at a inter date. This ceremony took place at the Ssttlek office on Tuesday afternoon in tbe presence of about a dozen gentlemen, when Mr W. A. Mason, J.P, banded to Mr Scott a silver revolving butter dish inscribed “ To Mr and Mrs J. E. Scott from Kawhia friends. 1906.” Mr Mason made a few brief and appropriate remarks, as also did Mr Pettit, tbe reoepient briefly responding. Tbe first fat cattle shipped from this port were sent away by the sB. Kia Ora on Friday last to the Auckland market. The lot comprised 28 head, and the quality was really excellent, speaking well as to tbe grazing capabilities of the land in this district. Mr H. Shaw owned 25 of the consignment and Mr W. Shaw and J, P. Wright two each; The cattle were taken aboard at Nathan's Point, first being put on Mr Newton’s pontoon, and so well and carefully was the work carried by tbe capable ofiicjra and crew of tbe Kia Ora that tbe cattle were placed in the hold witbouta single hitch or mishap. Now that it has been demonstrated what an easy matter it is to ship fat stock, we predict that the steamer service will be taken advantage of in preference to the long and wearysome driye to tbe Waikato. Large and email potato growers will find it to their advantage to treat their seed with Sharland’s Potato Blight Esstebmixato*. It effectually prevents blight and improves tbe crop. Growers have already proved its value. Get particulrrs from your storekeeper He stocks it.*
