The follownifir petiiioD to the Minister for Public Works is being signed at Oparau :
“Tbe petition of (he undersigned resident settlers in Pitongia West and adjoining laud humbly showeth : That a line of road known as Ngutunui road, from its junction with the Pirongia West road to where it joins the Piroogia Kawhia road, about four miles in length, has been surveyed, but no other work has been done on it-. The opening of this road for traffic is of much importance to your petiticn?rs and would be of great advantage to the district generally. Your petitioners taking stock to the Waikato markets have to make a two day’s journey instead of one as would bo the case if the Ngutunui road were available ; also (hat they have to bring their stock to their newlygrassed country through, and camp them ou, a ragwort infested district that would be avoided by using the Ngutunui road. Your petitioners therefore ask (hat tbe work of opening up the Ngutunui road, so that it may be made available for driving stock, be put in hand with as little delay aa possible.”
