Kawhia Congregational Church.
Just before commencing the sermon in the Kawhia Congregational Church on Sunday evening last, the Rev. R. Mitchell addressed those present ae follows :-—As most of you know I have been to Auckland during tbe past week attending the Congregational Union meetings, and was sorry to hear that the two visitors (Messrs Smeeton and Day) who were here during the past two months had not been able to give a very satisfactory report concerning the attendance at the services. It also grieved me to have to report that the attendance had lately been rather discouraging, especially in the mornnig. Last Sunday morning, when there was only one service ia the day, only about a dozen were present. I am sorry there are so few present to-nlghfc to hear what I have to say, as I have to warn you that it will depend upon the support you give me by your attendance al the services during the next few months what will be the arrangements in connection with the services for the township. If you don't appreciate the opportunities then ii will necessitate my going where services will be appreciated. I am pleased to report that through the kindness ot Mr Lewis (of Thomson and Lewis, Wellington) we are to have a new set of hymn books. He has given us six dozen small and two music books, at a total cost of a little over £4.
