Te Anga.

. (from a correspondent.) I hope I will not be taken for a busy-bndy by your readers if I send you occasionally a little local correspondence from this section of the dis» trict. It is rumoured that there is to be a school-house built at Te Acga, as anon as there are enough scholars. The Public Works Department have men on sawing bridge timber for the purpose of bridging the Marakopa River and other streams on the road route. The construction of tbe roids is being pushed forward. There are in all five parties at w rk between here and the Marakopa Heads. I have hesrd from a reliable source that the district is to have another blessing in the form of a refreshment room and accommodation bouse which are to be erected at Mr Haylook's landing, for the convenisnce of the travelling public making use of the river. There was a chopping match here on Saturday between Mr Joseph Wells and Mr Robert Neily, of Matakana, The block was a six-foot rata, which had been felled some weeks previously. Tbe former won by ten minutes, the tim? being 55min. lOreo.

Lately there have been several people through here looking for land to settle on, and all seem very satisfied with what they saw, and seem to think there is a great future—as far as bnsb farming goes—in store for thia district.

Most of the settlers round about have bsen cutting their grass seed lately, the yield being good. (from another correspondent.) I hear that Mr Stanley has had a magnificent burn this year, and th&j his turnips are looking well. A committee has been formed here, consisting of Messrs Haylock, Lawfcrd Armitage, J. Shaw, R. Thomas and E. C. Stanley, to dial with educational matters. The committee met on Saturday, and elected Mr Stanley chairman and Mr Shaw treasurer, whilst the question of the school site was also dea{i with. The increasing population necessitates a school. Tba settlers have to thank Mr Armitage for the gift of 2 acres of land on which to erect a school, and we trust that the Education Board will tpeedily do thou pari.
