(from our own correspondent.) I believe Messrs Bell Bros, and Ross’ fl ar. mi 11 is* turning out good fibre. Difficulties never seem to end with this plucky firm. First it was getting the fibre away; surfing was t-ied with little success, bu even'ualiy the Government fixed up the track over the Potaka, thus enabling tbe fibre to be packed to Te Maika and shipped wi'b despatch. N>w tbe question of i hour seems to interfere with the successful working of tbe mill owing to not suffici-nt being proe'i?flble. Tbe Maoris and - 2*Hers are ail engaged road m iking—a g >od fault, but very b id for the fl »x industry. Th6re are large qiwi lea of flax alo >g tbe co s- and th« sooner the road fr -m Te to N>ik<h kari is constructed f .ho bsuer. This work wo :I<l enable five or fix m Ils to comments work, which w uli employ a good deal of Hbour, thu? cirsuLting thousands of p u sds in w igM It is pleasing to know th r the local Setters' Association carries some weight, for it is th ough representations made by that b >dy that -one of the -ection hereabout, to b.-. b lljt't-d for in Mirch, were thrown ojen. A lot of credit in this matter is due to the indaf Eligible sec Mr P. C. Rose.
