Paspalum Dilitatum.

Mr W. Seccombe. the grower of the famour hand-shaken paspalum seed, visited Kawhia last week in connection with the sale of ‘be reed. In conversation with our representative he stated that be was greatly impressed with the land in this district, and considers that if it was under paspalum grass the carrying capacity would be doubled in a vaty short time. The grass has done wonders in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland by bringing land into profit that was useless under Erg lish grasses and clovers. The Byron Bay Butter Factory, the largest butter factory in Australia, ten years ago opened with a monthly output of one ton of butter, to-day the output is 250 tons per month, all owing to paspalum, as the cows that supply this factory are pastured almost entirely on this grass. Milk from cows has been known to rise from 3 8 test t) fi’l in tea days, after coming off ordinary pasture of cocksfoot r l e clover and going on to paspalum. As a, fattening grass it is unequalled. At the Wollongbar Government Farm, New South Wales, the manager reports fattening 10 sheep off one acre as an experiment. Mr Seccombe advised us to strongly uzge setters, to put a good proportion of paspalum with their mixture when sowing burns, etc. If sown in spring, eitbpr by or with ether grasses or clover, it comes away very quickly and makes a splendid sward in two or three months, the weather being favourable.

For futher particulars attention is directed to 'the advertisement elsewhere of Mr Seccombe.
