Lawn Tennis.

CLUB FOBMED AT OPABAU.

A meeting was held at Oparau on the 11th inst. for the purpose of forming a tennis club. There was a good attendance, Mr J. Crotty presiding. The Chairman informed those present that the residents Bad fortunately secured a nice piece of ground upon which a good deal of work had been done, and it was now ready for the sowing of the seed. It was decided to form a club, the subscription being fixed at ss. The following officer* were elected : —Patron, Mr Lang, M.H.R.; president, Mr Elliott; vice presidents, Messrs Sobye, Bell, Mackenzie, Yells, Armstrong, sent., and Dax.es, senr.; secretary, Mr W. Davies; treasurer, Mr O. Perham ; committee, Misses D. Newton, B. Armstrong, Messrs Crotty, Boesen, Jourdain and L, Davies. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
