Rifle Shooting.

It is gratifying to learn that there are several new members joining the. Kawbia Rifle Club. There are still a few vacancies. There is every likelihood of a team from Awaroa meeting tbe local dab at ap early date, on tbe kcal range, a nd also a team of yolnnteers from the Raglan Mounted Rifles Trophy matches will also be fired during the year, consequently it behoves all members to indulge in as much practice as possible. Mr Pearson, the captain, would be pleased to receive members subscriptions at once, so as they will be eligibl e to take part in tbe matches. The sub scription only amounts to 10s per » n num.

THE HAMILTON CUP.

WON BY MR. J. CROTTY. Tbe final shoot for the above trophy, presented by Mr T. D. Hamilton, was fired on the Kawbia range on Monday last, when after a most exciting finish Mr Crotty proved to-be the winner by ,uj narrow of three points from Captain Pearpbn. The prize was offered for tbe best two scores out of three shoots, seven shots and one sighter at- 200, 300 and 500 yards, sighter not to count. The following are the scores

(to the editor.) Sir, —Might 1 ask a question in connection with the cup presented by Mr Hamilton and won by Mr Crotty ? The match was fired on Monday; could not it bbve been presented to Mr Crotty at the ball in tbe evening ? No wonder there is such little interest taken in affairs when tbe winner of a trophy has to take it out of a shop window and put it in bis own portmanteau, without a word being said. —Pours, ate., FAIR PLAY.
