Kinohaku.
(from our own correspondent.) The weather, which has been particularly dry recently, has at last broken, good rains having been experienced during the past week. The rain has given the grass on the now burns a good start, and the country is looking beautiful and green. But oven tde glorious rain has its drawbacks, and that is the bad effect it has on our roads, which are already io a slippery and sloppy condition. I think that this winter will prove to be “ our winter of di content ” as far as bad roads are concerned. The largest mob of cattle so far brought into this district, arrived some weeks ago from the Waikato. The cattle were owned by Messrs W. Shaw, Derecourt and Stanley, and comprised over 800 head, the quality being considered excellent by those competent to judge. It is rumoured that there will bp changes in the bn ines <• ’ b re before vary long. Messrs Bayne and Wade have goneinto partner bip ;v packers, etc. The now firm have decided to erect stables and al. o commence a black mith’s shop, the building : for which will be erected in the vicinity of Mr Newton** store. Mr Titchmarsh has disposed of his
section, fronting the water, to Mr Brown, < f Wanganui, who contemplate? building at an early date.
