The Kawhia County.
A Up to the time of going to press n > *word has been reserved as to the bounds* - of the Kawjrta County, fixed by the\. -vcrnmen? bn March 31st. Aiiitiough it is thought that the first election ef councillors will bo held in about six writks’ time, so far there is little interest being taken in that usually exciting event. As far as can be judged at present' the candidates will be very tew, and in the majority of the ridings the seats will not be contested. For the Kawhia Riding Mr W. W. M* Cardie has decided to stand, word having been received to that effect. The names of Messrs J. E. Scott, Mason, Hamilton, Jonathan and Dance have al°o bean mentioned as likely candidates, but we believe that the two former have definitely declined to allow themselves to bo nominated. For the Tabaroa Riding, Mr Haylock is almost sure to bo returned unopposed, for the Waiharakeke Riding Mr W. J. Shaw, for Awaroa Mr A. Babbage, and for To Kauri Mr Easy will probably be elected without the necessity of an election. Tw-> members are required for the Matakowhai Riding and the seats will probably be filled by Messrs C. Bell and E. W. Buckeridge, Mr fcJobye having definitely decided not to contest the election. At the point of going to press we learn that Mr E. C. Falwaeser has been reqtfest&d to become a candidate for the M&t&kowhai Biding.
