FREIGHT ON SHEEP.
(to Tn® EDITOR.) Sir, —I r.ad M- Langley’-- letter, published in your Last issue, with considerable intei os t— notwilhstandirg the “ inaccuracies.” It is yery few of us who have “ 1000 or m >re ” t-hoep to send away to Oaehung», so that the concession mentioned d?e- not particularly interest us. Some short itne ago Mr West, of the Auckland Freezing Company, purchased here between 500 and 600 and kmb?, and there was no reduction made for the lambs. Mr Langley’s statement chat sheep and lambs reach Auckland in better condition by boat than road does not quite agree wilt* Mr West’s, who says that bis shipment was considerably bruised, and consequently hardly up to freezing standard. lam sorry to differ with Mr Langley re pre paid freights. A few months ago I shipped 135 sheep and desired to pay at this end, and was informed in Auckland that all freights were payable there. I could, and will if required, mention a few instances that have caused residents trouble and expense by freights being not collectable here. The residents at Raglan and other ports n: uot treated as we are. Why is it ?—Yours, etc , W. A. MASON.
