Axemen's Carnival.

On Tuesday evening last a meeting of those interested in the holding of an axeman’s carnival at Kawbia was held at the Skttlxs Office, when there were present—Messrs Maxted, Hartman, Turrell, E. Falwasser, Pettit, E. D. Hamilton, V. M'Cardle and J. Prentice. Mr Pettit was appointed to the chair.

Mr Prentice (secretary of the carnival held last year at Oparan) said that the Oparau csmmittee oeeired to amalgamate with Kawbia and hold the carnival at Kawhia this year. The minutes ot the last mooting of the Opardu carnival were read and adopted, as also was the balance-sheet, which showed a credit balance of £8 5s sd, which, Mr Prentice stated, was to be banded over to the Kawbia oarnival.

After a short discussion, Me Falwasser moved, and Mr Prentice seconded —" That the axemen's carnival ba held this year, to be called the Oparan Amalgamated Axemen’s Association, the carnival to be held at Kawhia (Maketu ground) on Friday, March 24th."—Carried. Mr F. W. Lang, M.H.8,, was appointed potrou ; Mr H. J. Greenslada president -, Dr Jenkins, Messrs Hamilton and Hustler, ar., ju "ges; Messrs Dance and Gosling, timekeepers; Mr W. Armstrong, starter; Messrs Crotty, W. Shaw and Hustler, jr., handicappers ; Mr J. Prentice, secretary and treasurer ; Messrs Dereoonri, W. Shaw, Wade, Crotty, T. B. Scott, W. Armstrong, J. Scott, Jas. Noonan, Randall, J. Mowatt, Hustler, jr., E. Falwasser, Jonathan, Pearson and Hartman were appointed as an executive committee; five to form a quorum. A number 'of vice-presidents and a largo committee were also elected. It was resolved that the carnival be associated with the Axemea’s Association ot Naw Zealand.
