THE KAWHIA COUNTY.

Oor Te Kuiti ooarespondent mentions in this issue a meeting that was held at that place recently to receive tbe county delegates from Kawhia, Te Rau a-moa, Awaroa and Kinohaku. The fact is admitted by oven the disputants relative to the boundaries that it is absolutely imperative that an immediate settlement of this vexed question should be arrived at, so as to enable tbe Act to be put in force at once, and It appears to us that

it would be far wiser fur the settlers who are interested in a disputed boundary to be put in the wrong county than to be left out c!together. The suggestion that tbe settlers of Te Rou-a-moa should meet the delegates from Kawhia and Waitomo and discuss the matter is a very good one, and it is hoped that this suggestion will bo given effect 10. The ropresen-I tatives of both the Kawhia and Wai- i tamo Counties have stated that they will loyally abide by tbe decision of the settlers, which resolve will commend itsbl? to everyone who bus the interests of the district,at heart, and more of this spirit of conciliation bad been displayed when the county movemeat was first mooted the Kawhia and neighbouring counties would be operative bodies long era this, The

J.’t a«*a”f M to , absorbed by tbe Beads Department . unlaw .boundaries are definitely er ranged, and it that happens they will not be expended so advantageously or aconomioallyas would/happen it the sums were spent under the supervi«ioo of aOounty Council. We therefore sincerely ' hope that the day is now close at Kawbia■ County ‘ fj reality, d ' sities of this long | ' •
