Waikanae, Oketopa 13, 1858.
E, tenei tetahi hoiho kua mau te hopu inakuanei—kei Waikanae nei, kei te here. Naku i mea kia hopukia —he rongonga noku ki a Patukopa, ko tetahi tangata e kimi ana i tona hoiho. Ko te ahua tenei:—He hoiho teitei, he roa, he pai kite tiliro atu, he toa hoki; ko te ihu he ma, i tuku iho i nga kanohi a hiiri katoa kite rae. Te teitei o nga waewae o mua tae noa ki nga timu, e rima puta e wha inihi. Ko ngahuruhuru katoa o te tinana he where korako, ara, kahore i tino whero. Kahore he parani o te tiuana. Kite rongo te tangata nona tenei hoiho, tikina mai tona hoiho. Kei roa e haere ana ka raotu taku taura. Na Riwai Te Ahu. oo
