Mr W. J- Broadfoot, of Te Kuiti, who has been paying a visit to Australia and the South Island, returned to Ta Kuiti this week. Mr and Mrs Broadfoot had a most enjoyable tour, and returned much benefitted in health. The funeral of the late Mr E. C. A q,able message this week announced the fact that the boat's crew of the German cruiser Emden. which escaped when the cruiser was-sunk, had been presented with iron crosses. No doubt it was a remarkably good piece of work for the crew to escape, but the decoration is likely to become rather more than common if every performance of any note is rewarded in the -same manner.
The Te Kuiti Rifle Club will hold a meeting in the Alexandra Rink on Thursday evening next, when drill will be undertaken. Members are taking a good deal of interest in the club, and the weekly meetings are well attended. As soon as the rifle range is obtained rifle practice will be inaugurated.

There are other lists yet to come in. The list sent to Taumatawaenga haß been entirely in the hands of Master Llewellyn Wooderson, who, no doubt, has worked hard to obtain such a large amount from a so scattered district, and the committee specially desire to thank him ; for the good result.
