SYDNEY WOOL SALES. Sydney, Thursday. The week's wool sales closed with keen competition. All good qualities obtained tiie best rates of the week. Faulties were irregular. Crossbreds, greasy, obtained up to 13Jd, mernios up to 13d, and scoureds up to 201 d. WANGANUI RAM FAIR.

This important sals will be held at Messrs Freeman Jackson and Co.'s Wanganui yards on Thursday, 18th insi., whan some 1000 raraa selected from the best flock a in the Dominion will be sold. The attention of sheep breeders is drawn to this sale, as it affords an opportunity of acquiring the best sheep the Dominion produce?. NGARUAWAHIA SHEEP FAIR.

Dalgsty and Co., Ltd., report having held their first sheep fair for the New Year in the above yards last Friday, the sth inst., when they yarded 7900 sheep. There was a large attendance of buyers and an unsatisfied demand for sheep, especially good breeding ew9s. Out of the total yarding there were only two lots passed. They quote: Fat wethera 39s fid to 23 3d, 4 and 6 tooth wethers 14s to 16s 6d,

2 tooth ditto 12s 6d to 16s Bd, fat ewes to 18s 2d, fat sheep (mixed sexes) to 21s, 4 and 6 tooth ewes 13s 3d to 15a lOd. 2 tooth ewes 13s 7d to 14s Bd, mixed 2 tooths 17b, f.m. ewes 12s 3d to 15s lOd, a.m. ewes 14s lid. woolly lambs, good 9s 4d to 13s Id, inferior 6s 9d to 8s 9d, shorn lambs 6s 9d to 9s, 2- tooth Romney rams 3£gns, 4 tooth ditto 3gns.

FAT STOCK SALES.

At Weatfield yards on Wednesday, fat cattle came forward in full number 3. The yarding consisted principally of cows, and heifers. Prices improved on last week's rates, oxen selling to 42s per 1001b, caws and heifers 25s to 35s per 1001b Steers sold at from £8 to £lB 17a 6d; cows £5 to £l2 2s 6d ; heifers £4 10s to £ll. A draft of steers from Mr Jas. Given, Aka Aka Swamp, Waiuku, averaged £l6 15s, and many other consignments sold over £ls. Calves came forward in full suply, and sold well. Extra heavy vealers sold at from £5 5a to £7, medium-weight £3 to £4 18s, smaller £2 to £2 18s, others 20s to 375, small and freshdropped 3s to 18s. Sheep were penned in less than average numbers, and again improved in price from 3s to 4s 6d per head. Best wethers 3old at from 27s 9d to 325, others 20s to 265, inferiorly fatted 15s 9d to 19e. Heavy ewes sold at from 23s to 275, others 15s 9d to 21s. A draft of 100 wethers from Clark, Kaiwaka, averaged 293 6d. Hoggets sold up to 23s 9d. Lamns were yarded in average numbers and sold uader brisk competition at improved rates, best selling at from 18s 6d to 21s, others 10s 6d to 18a. Store lambs 8s 9d to 10s 3d. Pigs came forward in good numbers, and sold well. Bacnners £3 to £3 10s, large porkers £2 10s to £2 19s, porkers 30s to 455, slips 25s to 335, weaners hard to quit s to Bs. At the Johnsonville fat stock sale fair yardings of sheep and catle sold at late rates. Prime heavy bullocks made £ls 15s, prime bullocks £l4 12s 6d to £l4 17s 6d, lighter 13s to 20s 6d, medium wethers 22s to 22s 9d, light wethers 21s, prime heavy ewes 21s 3d, prime ewes 19s 6d to 2b 6d, light ewes 17s 6d to 18b 6d, prime lambs 13s 4d to 13s 9d.
