LONDON WOOL SALE.S

The wool catalogued to date totals 29,289 bales, and the quantity sold 28,354 bales. Competition is very animated and all sorts are firm. Americans are operating freely. The following prices have been realised for New Zealand clips:— Totbwell, top, 15 id, average 15d; Gear, top 24d, average 20d. SYDNEY" WOOL SALEg, GERMAN BIDS REFUSED. Sydney, Monday. There was animated competition at the Sydney wool sales. All sections were firm at the be3t rates ruling last week and at recent sales. A number of Germans bought freely for the American market. Other sections of the trade took exception to this, and the sale was postponed for half-an-hour, owing to their refusal to bid. When the sales resumed the Germans persisted in bidding. They declared that they had obtained the proper authorisation of the - Customs and military authorities. Their bids, however, were ignored. Excitement in the rooms ran high for a time. Finally the Germans accepted a plain hint and desisted.
