DOMINION FINANCE.

NINE MONTHS' FIGURES,

INCREASE IN REVENUE,

[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, This Day.

In the course of an interview on the subject of finance for the period of nine months, ending December 31st, the Hon. Mr Allen stated tha revenue amounted' to £8,545,826, or £231,526 more than the revenue for the first nine months last year. The expenditure out of the Consolidated Fund was £8,996,318, an increase of £606,611 on a similar period to last year. This, however, he thought would include the bulk of increases for the full year, as he did not anticipate any increase in expenditure for the remaining threa months. The Public Works expenditure was just £7508 in excess of the first nine months of the previous year, which shows the public wurks are being kept going. Tha expenditure on public works for nine montha was £1,620,745. "Do you expect to declare a surplus?" Mr Allen was asked. "Ask me something easy," he replied.
