FIRES IN HAWKE'S BAY.
SETTLERS' HOMES DESTROYED

Reports from the coastal districts indicate extensive damage was done there on Monday by fires which were fanned into activity by a howling gale. In addition to the loss already announced, the residences of Franklin Bros., Pongaroa, and Small, Weber, were destroyed.
