BRILLIANT BRITISH CHARGE.

Reuter states that the British, on Thursday, captured on important strategic point at La Bbasse. with heavy German loßßes and many prisoners. The British casualties were slight. Paris, Friday. The British success was brilliant, nver a kilometre being gained, the Germans being driven from Btrong entrenchments. Tne Petit Parisien saya the attack was necessary to protect La Bassee, which Was dominated by the hill. The British charged up the hillside and fought for two hour? with the bayonet. A communique states we progresed ne»r Lombaertzdye and Becclaire. The Zouaves, by a brilliant bayonet attack took positions near Arras and Lille road, in the same region our artillery silenced the enemy's bat-> teries, wrecked two guns and blew up an ammunition depot. The Germans entered the village of Saint Paul, north east of Soissons. We recaptured it immediately. We nl o destroyed the German bridges at Saint Mitaiel. The Germans were thrown back south of Serones.
