BOWLING.
The Te Kuiti team which entered for the Dominion tournament at Auckland, did fairly well in the section play, having five wins and four losses out of the nine games, to their credit. This is not as much as Was expectad of the team, and it is quite possible one or two of the players were somewhat stala. However, it is a recognised condition in bowls that form varies greatly from day to day, and the team has had few opportunities of playing together this season. The South Auckland tournament, which takes place at Cambridge on January 29th, i 3 attracting attention just now. It is likely two teams from Te Kuiti will participate, and with reasonable luck should render a good account of themselves. Quite a iiumof the -ocal players are showing good form just now, and there should ba no difficulty in getting a couple of really good rinks together. It is to be hopad that the teams will be arranged at an early date so as to afford time to play together as much as possible before the tournament. As in all games, combination is a big factor in the game, and no opportunity should be lost of allowing the men to get accustomed to thair positions. Ii ordinary club games it is very seldom a player occupies the same position as be is called upon to occupy in a tournament team, aad when the test is applied it often takes some time for a player to adapt bimself to the altered conditions. This ia particularly the case in respect to the younger players, and practice before the tournament is required to obtain the necessary combination.
