UNPRINTABLE HORRORS.
RAPINE, MriRDER AND PILLAGE
COMMITTED BY GERMANS
London, Sunday
A summary of the report of the Commission inquiring into the German atrocities shows that rape, with every imaginable refinement of cruelty and bestiality, marked tb.9 passago of the Huns with ghastly frequency. Irrefutable evidence Was collected, and the stories of rape were so horrible that the publication of details is almost impossible, except for the necessity of showing to the fullest extent the nature of the wild beasts fighting under the German flag for German ideals of civilisation. It was established beyond doubt that incendiarism, murder and pillage are part of the German military equipment, as definitely as big guns. For these crimes tha highest officers in the German army must be held responsible. The Times, in a leader commenting on the atrocities, says that in all countries where a sense of common humanity exists tha report will be read with emotion and horror. According to the French official report on the German atrocities in France, the participators in the pillage at Chateau Baye, included not the CroWn Prince but his brother inlaw, the Duke of Brunswick. The report mentions that eight generals and noblemen permitted the massacres and vandalism.
