TE KUITI RIFLE CLUB.

A general meeting of the Te Kuiti Rifle Club was held on Monday evening in the County Chambers. There was a fair attendance and Mr Mostyn Jones presided. President —Captain Berry wrote resigning the position of president as he had been appointed oQleer commanding a mounted troop. The resignation wa3 accepted with regret, and Captain Berry was congratulated on his promotion. Mr Mostyn Jone3 was appointed president and Mr Cameron vice-president. Range Site. —The matter of obtaining a suitable range was discussed, and it was decided that Messrs Spencer, Cheal and the secretary be a com* mittee to interview Messrs Ormsby and Shannon, failing the immediate conclusion of an arrangement with Mr Somerville; with power to recommend any selected Bite to the author itiss. Mounted Company.—The matter of forming the club into a mounted troop was discussed, and it wag decided to leave the matter until a general expression of opinion from members could be obtained.

Drills.—Captain Coleraan of the Defence Department, who was in attendance, said no drills Were laid down in the regulations for the Rifle Clubs, but ,it was desirable in the interests of tha elub t-.at tha- msm-bm-a should turn out whenever possible with the Cadsfs. S'icb a' practice would be beneficial to boih tha club and the Cadets Ha advocated daylight drills . Sergt.-Major Barlow spoka in a similar strain and promised to go all in his power to furtheJ the club's interest.
