Sir George Paish, joint editor of the Statist, in leaving for London, stated that the United States was certain to havfi great prosperity during the war, but; misfortune was certain to come later. After tho war Britain would be able to reduce expenses on prmaments and would probably to able to defray tlw entire cost of the war in a few years. Sir George Paish expected that the leading Stock Exchanges of the world would reopen in January, when he hop?d that financial confidence would be generally restored.
