As showing the Russian soldiers' remarkable powers of endurance, it is stated that some of the corps htjve been continuously engaged for 50 days, have stormed several fortified positions, and marched a thousand verßtß over bad roads. They are so inured to hardships that they are now of greater, fighting value than ever.

CAVALE.YS' TERRIBLE EXECU- \ TION.

KAISER'S CARRIAGE CAPTURED,

Petrograd,/Thursday. Tho military authorities deprecale the publication of an incomplete account of'the Vist,ula-Warta fighting. • It is believed- in military circles that two German army corps broke through a section of the Russian defence.

A Russian counter-rußh drove them southward, and they were practically surrounded on Monday between Lodz and Lovetch.

There is now no doubtythat the German offensive was broken by the Russians Jbringing up fresh troops to meet each German assault. When the Germans gave way the Russian cavalry did terrible execution, capturing several guns. Geneeal.von Hindeberghy's army is weak. H 3 is isolated from the Crown Prince, who is commanding south of Czentcho.wa. Thß failure of the turning movement in the direction of Wielun, near the Prussian-Poland frontier, was due to the Russian Grenadiers, who captured five thousand prisoners and several convoys of stores and machine guns. The trophies captured at Czenatochowa include the Kaiser's carriage, inside which his blue coat was found.
