CHARGE OF EMBEZZLEMENT.
Arthur F. Ncwbold, clerk of t!.o Kaitieke County Council, waa brought before Messrs Luird and Simmons, J'e.P , on Monday morning on a charge of having fraudulently converted to hiß own use certain money the proparty of the Kuilieke County Council, he being, at he time, an official of tho Council. The charges were in rvspect of three cheques of £',], one of £<J, one of £5, one of £l3—in August last—on" of £l2 2s Gd in September. Tho police asked lor a remand till Thursday as othef charges were pending. This was granted. The accused asked that bail be allowed. Bail was fixed at two sureties of £l5O each and accused in £l5O.
