STATUTORY ANNUAL MEETING

The statutory armuul meeting of the Waitomo County Council wua held to-day at noon. Only one nomination wu9 receivid for the position of chairman, Cr Scholcs being proposed by Cr Johnston and seconded by Cr Smyth. The chairman in thanking tho Council for the expression of confidence, congratulated the members on their return, lie thought there waa more work ahe;id than ever, and trusted they would nil pull together for the common gool. The third Monday in each month was fixed for meetings-), next meeting to bo held on December 14lh. The following resolutions were carried: —

"That the clerk reply to the settlers living along the Awakino road and Bay the matter of repairing tho main road is in the hands of the Public Works Department, and that the work done last winter was dono by the Public Works Department"—-

Crß Berry and Were. "That the Council arrange for a suitable function to celebrate the opening of the Waipa bridge at Kawa, and that tho matter be left in the hands of tho clerk to arrange, and that tho Council invite the Minister of Public Works to be present, and the Native Minister."— Cis Potts and Willis.
