FLORAL FETE IN AID OF BELGIANS.

The Editor. Sir,—l am sorry soma abler pen than mine has not given publicity to the above. There has been two meetings held already in connection therewith, but owing to the apathy shown by the public, it is likely to fall through. If so, it will be a lasting shame to us. Every little hamlet in New Zealand is contributing their share, and I would like to see the name of Te Kuiti amongst them. So far we have not much reason to be proud of our share. One reason, lam given to understand, is that our annual Flower Show is close at hand. But, surely, Mr Editor, it would bs a gracious act to forego what I can quits understand is: a source of pleasure to our flower lovers, and join hand 3 with the promoters of this fete and in the name of common humanity help to throw a beam of. sunshine over the miseries of the broken-near-ted women and maimed little ones of this cruel war, waged by our cowardly, cultured enemies, ,and whom the brave Belgians are fighting for us as well as themselve?.—l am, etc., J. F. WALSH.
