An interesting letter which applies to the proposed scheme and the King Country boundaries generally has heen. received from the Minister of Internal Affairs, - who has had the subject placed bsfore him Tna Minister states that there is nothing in the Counties Act to authorise such a Commission. He noted the importance of the subject and stated that special legialati n would be required to give effect for a Commission to be set up for such a purpose. The only provision made hv law was contained in section 6, pub-section c, of the Counties Amendment Act, 1914. It therefore ap"in that if the greater Awakino scheme can be brought about that it will be necesaarv for the settlers resident in South Kawhia to petition the Awakino County Council in terms
