ADVANCE ON ERZERUM

Petrograd, Sunday. The Russians are advancing upon the Turkish fortress of Erzsrum, in Armenia, oil three sides. Tne road is practically open to within a few miles, where the Russinns are confronted with tha formidable Deveboyun Heights, the of aevere fighting in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877. The Turks have reinforced Erzerum from Trebizond, on the Black Sea coast. The Russians indicted great losßas on the Turks. A flank attack on the Russian left wing was caught by a punishing cross tiro from mouuntaiu artillery and broken up by infantry charges. The Caucasians are now pursuing tho Turks into the mountains.

The Russians assaulted a fortified position of the Turks near the Üblco faBS on the night of the 11th.
