FAT STOCK MARKET.
The New Zealand Loan ard r Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:-^-At Westfield yards on Wednesday fat cattle were again yarded in very large numbers, competition being keen, and alt! ough quotations are the sae, the market had a firmer tone for Bteers. Prime frozen sold at 38s to 395, others 35s to 37s 6d, cows and heifers 34s to 38s per 1001b; steers £8 10s to £ 16 15s, cows and heifera £5 to £ll 12s 6d. A draft of 16 steer from Mr Alf. Main, Tamahere, averaged £ls 18s, and nearly all the Waikato consignments averaged over £l3. Calves were yarded in record numbers and sold at improved rates. Heavy weights £4 10s to £5 15s, medium £3 to £4 4s, lighter £2 2s to-£2 18s, smaller 23s to 40s, fresh dropped 3s to 20s. Sheep were again yarded in extra large numbers, and owing to Southdown works being unable to take any for freezing this week, thus stopping the freezing buyers operating, prices were lower from Is to 2b per head. Best wethers 20s to 24fl 3d, others 17s 6d to 20a, heavy ewes, extra heavy 21s to 23s 9d, others 15s to 20s 6d, hoggets 14a 6d to 18s 9d. Lambs were penned in large numbers and sold at late rates. First quality 17s 3d to 19s, others 13s 3d to 16s 6d, store do. 8s 9d to 12s 9d Pigs were penned in large numbers, and sold at late rates. Baconers £3 3a to £4 4s, large porkers £2 10s to 31s, porkers 25s to 455, 3lips 15s to 235, weaners 5s 6d to 15s. CANTERBURY WOOL SALE. Christchurcb, Thursday. At the wool sal?s to-day there was a large attendance. Bright lustrous wool showed an advance of one penny to a penny halfpenny. Halfbred made 9id to l4jd, three-quarterbred B|d to 13|d, crossbred B|d to llfd, Corriedale 10|d to 14Jd, Down wool lOd to 12id.
