WAITANGURU.

Own Correspondent. A very prosperous appearance environs our district at this present time. The beautiful weather, has been all that can be desired, and as a consequence, everything is flourishing. The roads which at this period last year assumed a Horrible and dangerous condition, are now at their best; for almost anywhere .a bicycle could be ridden without any great difficulty. Mr Tarry, the contractor for the metallnig of this end of the Pungarehu road, has been fortunate enough to get his traction engine and crushing plant in to the»site where he intends crushing. His men have been very busy in the preliminary operations, and have now completed the setting up of the crusher. Accesses to the pit have been made, but crushing operations are postponed pending the securing of teams to cart the metal. Poviding the weather remains favourable, we hope to see very shortly the commencement of the laying down of the metal. Mr Tarry was very unfortunate a week or so ago in losing one of his valuable mares. During the night she unacountably got into a creek on her back, and in the morning she was found, dead. Dairying is proceeding apace.here, and the supply of cream to the local factory is rapidly increasing. Judging by present conditions it appears very evident that the output this season will greatly exceed that of last year. The manager reports that .everything is running smoothly, and >is very-optimistic of this season's success. ' Another meeting of the Progressive Association will be held in the hall on Thursday evening. These meetings are alwayß well attended and are conducive of much good to the district.
