'PRISONER JUMPS FROM TRAIN. A WELL-KNOWN CRIMINAL. A prisoner who was being es^ortad from New Plymouth to Hamilton yesterday morning made a daring and successful leap for liberty from the 2 am. train just after it had laft Te Koiti. The prisoner, whose name is Harcourt, also goes by a numbe* of aliases including Hammond and Hackett, and is well acquainted Jith this district He is Described. as an exceptionally clever criminal and ia wanted on several .barges of false pretences. Recently, he has been posing as a land seeker, and Bering valueless cheques in his . dealings with agents.
