MEAT FOR EXPORT.

A LARGE INCREASE. An extraordinary impetus has been oiven to the frozen meat industry -Fn tha Auckland province as a result of the abnormal demand created by the war. During tha present season, irom July Ist to October 24th laat. the company has slaughtered 6780 head of cattle, compared with 31.* for tha corresponding Deriod of last year—an increase of 6467 head. Practically the whole of this besf is for export to England. Stock is still offering and in sight to the company's lull capacity up to the end of the year. The season's slaughtering operations by " the company to date are shown in the following table which also si?es the figures fur the same period of 1913, this year's figures reading first:— July Ist to October 24th—Cattle, 6870 head—3l3 head; sheep, 14,837 745- lambs/1354—578; calves, 137 . 323; totals, 23,108—1959. These figures show that sn the period of about four months covered the live stock slaughtered totals 21,149 head more than the quantity dealt" with last year during the same . period. Tha company at present is V killing about 100 head of cattle parday, and'2ooo sheep per week. It is considered that this easily constitutes a Dominion record for this time of the year. The increased business is taxing the company's plant to the otmoat, but it is being coped w,it]i successfully neverthetess.
