DEJECTION OF GERMANS.
PUT ON DEFENSIVE. TROOPS BAD HEALTH. London, Wednesday. The Amsterdam newspaper Tijid'a Berlin correspondent nays that the Germans nrfl depressed by the influence of the Aißne struggle, which the capture of Antwerp failed to neutralise. They are unable to disguioe. the fact that the opportunity for a Zeppelin raid onE ngland has pnsßed. owing to the approach ot winter stonna. The battle on the Aisne has crippled the idea of an invasion of England, while the fact that the health of the German troops in France is increasingly bad, is adding to the depression. German officers are dejected at being put on the defensive. The armies in Franco and Belgium are retreating, while seventeen train loads cf German wounded have reached Bruges. A letter found on a Gorman prisoner from a friend at Dmw.idorf states: "If you saw the volunteers and the Ladwehr now leaving you would turn your head, for they are taking everybody. *■ The lust hope for Germany is of all the old men becoming soldiers."
