OTOROHANGA.
Own Correspondent. SALE YARDS COMPANY. The fifth annual general meeting of shareholders of the Otorohatiga Saleyards Company, Limited, wan held on Friday afternoon in the Waipu Buildings. There was a large number of shareholders present In the absence of Mr John Ormsby, chairman of directors, Mr Robret Green officiated. The annual report and balance-sheet was read by Mr W. Vicary, and showed the company was in :> very satisfactory financial position. It waa decided to metal the yardH during the current year. Thren directors were required to bo elected, ihe vacancies being caused by the retirement by effluxion of time cf Mr R. P. Gregg, the resignation of Mr W. Vicary, and the death of Mr 11. G. Matthews. The following gentlemen were elected: Messrs Gregg, J. Willis, and Ashley Cook. Mr Frank Porster was re-elected auditor. KIO KIO RIFLE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Kio Kio Rifle Club was held on Saturday night when a good muster of members were present. Mr W. J. Worthington, president, was in the chair. The question of the club having joined the Territorials was discussed at length, and it was resolved to write to the Dofenco Department with respect to rifles being granted as part of their equipment while under control of t e Department. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mr W. J. Worthington; deputy-pre-sident, Mr Bertram; hou. sac. and treasurer, Mr S. A. Cook; committee, Messrs E. Cumpstone, W. Wylie, F. Ogle, 11. S. McDonald, and ex-offieio, tha president, deptuypresidont, and secretary.
KIA OKA CARD. On behalf of the residents of Otorohanga, tho Town Council has had printed a very neat card, with the following inscription:—-"Otorohanga deßires to express it:s i»reat apf.rncration of your voluntary response to tho Empire's call for ita defence, ■■•■' id tho grand cause of Liberty ,n;d Freedom. The residents wish you God-Dpeed and a srfe return: Kia Ora, kia Icalha. Ake! Ake! Ake! John Orrnsby, Chairman, Otorohanga Town C)uncil." A card has been posted to each of tho following local officers and men, who havo joined the Expeditionary Force.:—CuptH. R. Wyman, A. Price, Lieut?. Wcslmacott, S. Baddeley, Henderson and Guinness, Sergt.-Ma.jor Mooney.Sergts W. Mahood and W. Rudden, Troopers A. Willis, Ashley Willis, W. Carter, A. Carter, F. Keeley, Privates A. Bradford, A. Clarice, J. McCraadv, 3. Barman, M. Turner, H, Henderson, R. Sircomlie, and C. Claridge. A limited number or" the?o cards, to keep nB mementos, may bo purchased at tho Otornhanga Tim en office, for 3d each. The proccods will bo hunded over to the Patriotic Fund. PROGRESSING FAVOURABLY.
Mr C. Phillips, who was injured, seriously in tho motor 'car accident some days ago, and who was sent to the Hamilton Hospital, in r wo hoar, progressing as favourably as can be expected, as is also Mr Scandolyn, who received a f factum rd tho buan of the skull while falling bush in the vicinity. It will he sometime before they ore able to Have the institution.
