THE HUNTLY DISASTER.
COMMISSION OF ENQUIRY. [RY TELEGRAPH.— rBESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Monday. The Government has appointed the following gentlemen as a Royal Commission to inquire into, and report upon, the cause or causes of the recei t fatal explosion in Ralph's mine, atHuntly:—Mr P. J. Burgess, S.M. and warden at the Thameß; Mr J. D. Dowgray, ex-president of the Federation of' Labour and representative of the coal miners on the Mines Commis- ; sioninl9ll; and Mr J. C. Brown,manager of the Westport Coal Com- £ pany's mines at Denniston. The commlßßion will hold its first sitting at Huntly on Thursday. It is intended to take the evidence of Professor Dixon, who will probab'y leave New Zealand next week. RELIEF FUND We acknowledge receipt of the following amounts:—Harold Pitcon (age 2\ years) 2s 9d, weight-judging competition per Wells and Sons, Te Kuiti, £4 13s 6d.
