AMUSEMENTS.
PATRIOTIC CONCERT. A grand patriotic concert under the auspiceß of the Te Kuiti Musical and Dramatic Society will be held in the Town Hall on Tirpday, October Gth. The proce3da are in aid of t.h« Patriotic Fund, and a good programme consisting of vocal an! oichestral itema wlil be rendered. Apart from the musical side of the programmo the most pleasing feature of the entertainment will be the tsblemi "Brittannin and Her Daughters." A strong ladies' committee is arranging thia attractive item, and no pains are being spared to make it an unqualified success. A very enjoyable entertainment may bn anticipated and those wishing to reserve seats are advised to do so early. PEOPLE'S PICTURE PALACE. The star picture for this evening and Monday is entitled "Greater Love Hath No Man," a drama full of intense interest and pathos. This picture arrives with a great reputation and bs the supporting films are of exceptional merit, a very enjoyable and instructive evening Bhould be spent. Reference to our amusement columns will give details as to the various pictures. The benefit concert in aid of the Huntly Miners' Distress Fund will take place next Wednesday nveninsr, when an attractive special programme will be screened. empressHpictures. For to-night only a complete change of programme will be screened.headed by one of the Lines' masterpieces entitled "The Banker's Ruse," also an excellent supporting programme. In order to assist the benefit in aid of the Huntly Miners' Distress Fand, the management will not show pictures next Wednenday night, but will change the programme on Monday night, when the last word in picture successes will be screened, entitled "Caprice," featuring Mary Pickford, who is described as the Ellen Terry of the screen. This film, which occupies the screen for one hour and twenty minutes, is described as one of the best poto plays ever presented to the public. The remainder of the programme is in keeping with the star picture.
