BIOSCOPE FAKES.

The means by which some of the apparently impossible effects are obtained' in- bioscope pictures are interesting, and in ' most cases they arc- surprisingly simple. ""• ";■ For instance, a popular photograph shows a burglar 'swarming up the perpendicular side of a house. This is done by laying > a "'property" wall, in reality . a painted cloth,, flat on the ground, and photographing it from above as the a ct.or crawls with every pretence of caution along it. Thus the requisite ...effect is. shown Zn the picture. In another picture you will, see a fish flying out of a stream into an astonished angler's hands. This is done simply by throwing the fish into the water, and reversing the film. Thus the fish appears to be/ coming out instead of going in.

It is by reversing the film that a wall is made to build itself, apparently. What is actually done is to have a continuous photograph taken .while somebody pokes the wall down from behind with a pole, brick by brick. Then when the film is reversed, the bricks, appear to lump up ono after the other. A motor-car running in a zig-zag along a fcraod road is done by photographing it with a camera on 1 a swinging pedestal, so that it v taken from each side in. turn.
