BELGIANS ENGAGE THE ENEMY FRENCH TO THE RESCUE London, Wednesday Reuter's Agency reports that a fierce battle is proceeding between Germans and Belgains along an extended front
Many refugees have arrived at Brussels from Tirlemoni-, Dieat, Aerachot, to the north-east of the old capital Earlier advices s*ate that on Tuesday morning the French cavalry by means of a brilliant forced march, recalling Stuart's great raid in the Amsrican Civil War, joined the Belgians, the couibined force executing a great sweeping movement They encountered considerable German forces in the vicinity of Ramillies, who fled after a feeble resistance One large body of Uhlans, with machine guns, fiercely attacked a Belgian infantry regiment, but the Frence dragoons opportunely debouched from a wood, laking the Germans in the flank The survivors fled heltea-skelter, and took refuge in a village near Raraillies. which they burned before retreating anew
The cavalry passed a series of burned villages which the German'B had destroyed The Allies, particularly the Belgians, maddened by these outrages, vow to esact a full measure of retribution.
The Belgians nicknamed the PrusBinsa "the Red Indians of Europe," owing to their farm-burning propensities
