FATAL ACCIDENT

Chas. Campbell, head bushman at Waitui,about 12 miles from Taumarunui, was killed on Friday afternoon while removing two logs from a truck on to trie mill skids. He had run his jack up to roll the inner log off the truck, and was half kn eling half standing up to run his jack down, when the outer log, which had evidently been resting on the inner one, rolled forward, catching deceased's head between the two. The concussion rolled the first log further ir. Deceased called out to his mate, Sullivan, "I'm done for," collaDsing shortly after and dying within an hour. Campbell was held in high esteem by his employers, and fellow workmen. He leaves a young wife and two children.
