THE PATRIOTIC FUND
A SPLENDID RESPONSE Patriotic funds havo been inaugurated throughout the Dominion, and the manner in which the people have responded has been moat gratifying. At Auckland an amount of over £IO,OOO was subscribed in two days, the chief contributors being the two chief newspapers with £IOOO each, similar amounts being received from the Harbour Board, South British Insurance Co., A. M. Myers, and Green and Coledrook; while the Auckland Racing Club donated £2OOO. Similar responses are being made in all the chief citieß, while the country towns are contributing heartily. The farmers interested in tin dairying industry are early in the field with a helpful proposition. Up to Wednesday donations to the Stratford war fund totalledr ove £6OO. The Cardiff Daiy Co. donated £IOO to the fund, and also dcided to recommend approaching'the annual meeting to devote one day's milk supply per month to the patriotic fund so long as the war lasts, or until otherwise resolved. It is probable this course will bo adopted by a large number of factories
