WORLD'S CHAMPIONSHIP PADDON'S FORM IMFROVING By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Oopyriu-Ht London, Tuesday Paddon. the Australian oarsman, is improving in condition, and his stalenesa has almost disappeared. Accompanied by Kemp, his trainer, he sculled eight miles yesterday, the last four at a hard, solid pace. At low water he does not shape, so comfortably as on top of the tide, owing to cross-currents, but he hopes to remedy this with his new boat, which will be ready next week. Ernest Barry, the champion, is in strict training, and is well and fit. George Towns has invited Barry to compete in Beveral big handicaps in Australia. If he goes, Barry will not row for the championship title.

With reference to the challenge issued by Hannan to row Webb for the championship of New Zealand and £IOO a-side, Webb announces that he is too busy to make a match for less than £2OO aside. The smaller Btake would mean a loss financially, even if he were victrioous.
