ARIA.
Own Correspondent. A meeting of the directors of the Aira Dairy Company was held on Friday. There were preßent Messrs C. J. Riddle (chairman), Collins, Townshend, S. Ridde, Petrie, and the secretary. The carriage of the cream for the coming dairy season had been undertaken by Mr Barrett. The connecting up of the factory and secretary's house by telephone with the bureau Was left in the hands jf the chairman and secretary. It was decided to order 40 copies of the National Dairy Association's pamphlet for suppliers. The annual balance sheet Bhowed a good profit after allowing for depreciation etc., and it was resolved to pay a bonus of |d per lb on butter fat guaranteed and supplied during the past season, thus making llid per lb. The auditor'B report was highly satisfactory. The outlook for the coming season was bright. So far the winter has not been rigorous, although decidedly damp and the cows are expected to come in well.
On Friday night a very enjoyable dance was held in the Aria Hall. There was a very good attendance of ladies, and dancing waa kept up spiritedly until early morning. Recently a meeting of ratepayers was held to consider tha metalling of the Aria-Pio Pio road, but the feeling of the majority was that the importance or the work warranted Government declaring it a main road, which they should form, metal, find maintain. It is hoped this next summer will see this work done. Throughout the whole route there is amply metal to bs obtained easily.
